My 1992 Alfa Romeo 164-S had NO cup holders, three ashtrays, two cigarette lighters, no clock, Recaro seats in all four positions (yes it had a center-rear seatbelt, but only an idiot would try to sit there) and a speedometer that went to 160MPH, because it would go that fast.
Italian Priorities.

Italians Smoke and drink wine.
so their cars might have some wine glasses holders

Could get that done with an oversize coin organizer

...something something... Italians ...something something...
I’m surprised the French didn’t have a hand in this, but they’d have some kind of built-in cheese holder, wine cooler, and/or bread holder, in addition to the ashtrays.

This is maximum French. All it needs is something to hold a bottle of wine and a wedge of Brie.

Sure for the Brie holder, but that’s why the french have two hands, one for the bottle of wine, and the other for a Cigarette

well, the glove box was cavernous, so you could probably fit a bottle and a couple glasses in it... But you wouldn’t be using those WHILE driving... I mean, for Christ sake, pull over, stop and ENJOY the wine! Preferably with a long lunch, diner, and/or sunset, siesta, or wildly-gesticulating, loud, long conversation.

....it’s been nearly 7 years since I’ve owned a 164, and I still recognize that interior enough to stop scrolling and actually read. #alfistiforlife

My Italian built French car (year: 2000) sacrifices the only two useful cupholder for a middle arm rest. It does have factory Recaros though. And multiple ash trays. It’s perfectly capable of holding baguettes too.
Never missed the cupholders. I never saw the point. I simply use bottles on longer drives. On shorter drives I don’t drink (<3 hours).
